Groundwater management is continuously developing. The international water world aims for an integrated approach, taking into account the economy, spatial planning and the environment. Europe influences the regulations of this management process and offers an opportunity for international solutions. Knowledge of (ground) water and soil systems is essential. In my vision water management should be Geographically well defined, International, Integrated, and System oriented (GIIS).
